A wedding is one of the most important days in the lives of many couples. It rates up there with the birth of your first child as well as any child that follows. It’s a time to celebrate and bring people who are important to you, together to join in celebrating and blessing your unity.
The wedding reception is the main part of the celebration. It is your gift to your guests that allows them to celebrate you both and the love you share. Your wedding reception is where many of your lifelong memories together will start.
Keeping that in mind, when working with our clients to help them plan a wedding, we here at Orange County Wedding DJ company Music Man Event professionals ask ourselves three very important questions about our service and your guests’ response to it:
Will they Cheer?
When we work with our clients, we want to make sure all of the guests participate in the event. The least amount of participation you should expect from your guests is the cheer. Many wedding DJs use the phrase “How about a big round of applause” or “Put your hands together for” to coax this minimum level of participation out of your guests. To us, that’s cheating and tends to be fake. Instead we want the cheers and applause to be a natural reaction to what is happening. We want your guests to have the urge to clap and cheer versus having them only do what they are told. Let’s start the evening off with and injection of energy or buzz.
Will They Dance?
With this question, we first focus on the the guests of honor or as most people refer to them, the bride and groom. We get to know them and what they like and then we make sure we have plenty of music that will please them. Then, we focus on the guests. Our goal is to be prepared for just about any kind of request that comes along, so we always carry with us a huge selection of music the spans multiple generations and genres. From the time the reception starts, we are constantly watching people’s reactions to the music we play to get an idea of what they respond positively to and what they don’t. We also look at the cocktail hour and dinner as their warm-up period. This is where we have to work to establish a mood in the room that encourages dancing and celebrating. By the time the dancing part of the reception comes, your guests will be ready to get out there and dance. It’s skills like this that really separates the great wedding DJs from the good ones.
Will They Remember?
The last question we ask is the most important of the three. Will the wedding be unique and exciting enough to make an impression on the guests and the couple such that it creates memories that will last a lifetime? You see, people have a tendency to remember events that happen around them that are different or unique. We work with our clients to find out who they are and to “inject” a little bit of who they are into their formalities to make it just different enough to make a lasting impression on their guests. Don’t get me wrong … that doesn’t mean copying things from YouTube. Instead it involves creating something no one has ever seen before that really reflects the couple.
